Obituary of Margaret Ardine REEVES, Hamilton County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Misty Flannigan Obituary Margaret Ardine Reeves, daughter of Wade H. and Nancy E. Oglesby, was born near Little Springs church Hamilton County, Illinois, Oct. 23 (The year is cut off) departed this life at her home May (The date is cut off) 1937, aged 78 years, 6 months and (The number is cut off) days. She was united in marriage to Jan A. Reeves on Dec. 7, 1883. To this union was born one son, Arl, who survives her. She raised and cared for four stepchildren, whom she loved as her own son, and they in return loved her as a mother. She professed faith in Christ some forty years ago, but never united with any church, but was a Primitive Baptist by belief. Her family was among the early settlers of Hamilton County. They came from Kentucky. She spent her entire life near the scene of her childhood, and by her kind, patient and peaceful manner of life was the friendship of both old and young. She had been afflicted for many years but bore the same patiently, always greeting her many friends with a kind word and a smile. In her passing we have lost a kind and loving mother and a helpful neighbor. She leaves to mourn, the above names son, Arl, of McLeansboro, three stepchildren Levi of Orient, Ill., Nellie Crabtree and Rachel of McLeansboro, 11 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Cassie Ritchardson of McLeansboro, besides a host of other relatives and friends. One stepchild, Carson, preceded her in death. We weep not as those that have no hope, for we expect to meet her in this place where our savior said He was going to prepare for those that loved Him. Funeral services were held at Little Springs Church Sunday, May 16, in the presence of a large concourse of sorrowing friends. The services were conducted by D. H. Knight, assisted by Rev. W. H. Weatherford. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations or persons.
