He married Sarahann Martin in 1858. She preceeded him in death Nov 23, 1911. to them were born 12 children, 7 of whom are living, namely – John A., Petersburg; Alice Z. Johnson, Jacksonville; Charles P., Meedosa; William E., Thackeray; Lydia H. Neal, McLeansboro; Prisilla, M. J. Clark, Petersburg; and Edgar E., Springerton. The deceased embraced a hope in Jesus 1885, and was baptized into the fellowship of Baker Priarie church. He moved to Hamilton county, Illinois, in 1891 and united with the Beaver Creek Baptist church, where he remained until death. Bro. Rhodes was a kind father, an affectionate husband was a kind father, an affectionate husband and a faithful church member. Funeral services was conducted by Elder W. A. Mayberry.
