Obituary for Christopher Columbus Wheeler, Hamilton County, Illinois CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS WHEELER, son of Tom and Ellen Hardesty Wheeler, was born July 22, 1882, passed to the great beyond at Walker's Hospital in Evansville, Ind., July 29, 1931, being 49 years and 7 days of age at the time of his death. He was married in 1907 to Eliza E. Allen. To this union were born seven children, two of whom preceded their father to the better world. Those who survive are: Sherman, Rosalee, Stella May, Ica Allen, and Clarence Eugene. During a revival meeting held at Prospect Church in the year of 1927, and under the ministry of Rev. Brown of Evansville. He accepted Christ as his personal Saviour, although he did not unite with any church. His life has shown to the world that he had walked and talked with his Saviour. He was a man among men, honest and straight in all his dealings with his fellow man, and was always found at the bedside of a sick friend, and always to be found in the home of his neighbors when the death angel called, willing to do all in his power to help lighten the load of a neighbor or friends in a time of trouble. It surely can be said of Brother Wheeler that another good citizen has been called from our community, and will be missed by his neighbors and friends; also by his two brothers, Hiram and Arthur, three sisters, Isabeth of Missouri, Gustie of near Norris City, and Julia of Dale, Ill., and most of all by the companion of his bosom, and his dear children in the once happy home. Funeral services were held at New Prospect Church July 31, at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. C. H. Prince, and in the presence of a very large crowd of relatives and friends the body was laid to rest.
