BOULDEN Family, Hardin County Illinois From: The Portrait and Biographical Review of Johnson, Massac, Pope and Hardin Counties, Illinois. Chicago Biographical Publishing Company 1893 Transcribed by Cindy Pegg Thomas Boulden of Bourbon County, Ky had four sons, Jesse, John, Ephraim and Nathan and two daughters Sarah and Cassandra. His son, John Boulden, was a tanner by trade and married Mary Benard, daughter of Frederic and Dorotha (Helms) Benard, in Indiana. Mary was born in 1788 in Virginia. Her father was from Germany and came to the United States at an early age settling in Virginia where he married. John and Mary moved from Indiana to Illinois in 1821 with one daughter first settling in Elizabethtown, IL then moving to Ford's Ferry near Cave In Rock, Il. John died in 1830 leaving his wife and six children, three sons and three daughters. One of the sons, Thomas Boulden, married Miss Martha Tomlinson (also known as Linson) in 1844. Thomas and Martha had four children who all died in infancy, two sons and two daughters.
