Obituary for Alta Marie Holbrooks, Hardin County, Illinois Alta Marie the daughter of Mr. Bruce and Minnie Holbrooks was born 13 May 1912, died 1 Jan. 1915, aged 2 year, 7 months and 18 days. Her sickness was of a short duration, Dr. Fowler was the attending physician. Indigestion was given as the cause of her death. All that medical skill could do was done to alleviate the suffering of little Marie, but to no avail. Her parents with kind friends and neighbors waited on and done all they could to keep her with them. So on the day above mentioned, the summons came and took little Marie from our fireside to realms of eternal bliss and glory. For Jesus said suffer the children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven. Little Marie was a kind and lovable disposition, made strong friends of all she come in contact with. Weep not dear parents for little Marie, she is not dead but is sleeping, while her spirit has took flight to God who gave it. You will not hear her sweet voice any more on earth, as she can't come back to you. Prepare yourselves to meet her, be as David was and go to her where there will be no more good byes. On the day following her death, she was brought to Central Cemetery for interment and after funeral services, conducted by the writer, all that was mortal of little Marie was laid tenderlly away to await the resurrection of the just. We have last a darling daughter. Written by Rev. Jonas Spivey >From the Hardin Co.
