Obituary for Billie Garland Hardin County, Illinois OBITUARY Billie J. Garland, the only child of Ralph and Mona Garland, was born Dec. 8, 1924 at Cave-in-rock, Illinois and passed away Monday Oct. 25, 1937 at Katherine Shay Bethea Hospital, Dixon, Illinois, after an illness of seven weeks. The remains were brought to the home of his grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Garland of Cave-in-Rock on Tuesday afternoon and the funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Millard Oxford at the Baptist Church at that place. the text was taken from Revelation 9:27. He leaves to mourn his loss, his mother, Mrs Mona Garland, his grand parents, John and Hester Garland of Cave-in-Rock and James and Lizzie Brownfield of Sparks Hill, Illinois, one aunt, Mrs Elsie Brewster of Cave-in-Rock, two uncles, Wiley Garland of Evansville, Ind. and Marvin Brownfield of Chicago and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. His father who was a World War Veteran, preceded him in death nine years ago, and Billie and his mother made their home in Dixon, Illinois. During the past six years, he has spent his vacations with his grand parents at Cave-in-Rock and Sparks Hill. Billie was a member of the Methodist Church at Dixon, Illinois and was loved by all his associates.
