Obituary of Cora Cowsert, Hardin County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Wanda Reed Mrs. Cora Cowsert aged 88, who has been in ill health for several years, committed suicide by jumping into the cistern at her home in Elizabethtown and drowned herself early this morning. She was missed by her husband and Mrs Ora Watson, who has been doing housework there, after breakfast had been prepared. A search began and her bathrobe was found beside the cistern. Dr. L.D., Duesh, coroner, held an inquest about noon and the jury decided that it was suicide. Funeral services will be held either Saturday or Sunday and the body will be in state at Barnett's Funeral Chapel in Elizabethtown. Mrs. Cowsert is survived by her husband, Jacob Cowsert, one son Loren of Elizabethtown' a daughter, Mrs. J. N. Bohannan, Pottstown, PA., three borhters, Dr. W.H. Birch, Dewey Birch and Ben Birch, three sisters, Mrs. Harry Ellis, Mrs Spence Barnard of Elizabethtown and Mrs. Loren White of Rosiclare and her aged parents Mr. and Mrs. W.J.
