Obituary for Charles L Douglas, Hardin County Illinois Charles L. Douglas was born near Cave-inRock, Illinois March 31 Apr. 1904. He was a son of A.L. and Daisy Douglas. His mother died when he was but four years and five months old. He was raised in his father's home and schooled in the neighborhood school. He was always industirous and was a great help to his father in helping on the farm and enjoyed his home. He was his father's chum. He was converted when but a boy and united with the neighborhood Methodist church namely, Potters Memorial. Rev. Montgomery was his pastor. He always took an interest in Sunday School. He was always a good boy although he strayed from his Christian integrity, he was restored to Christian faith before he died. In August 1923 he went to E. St. Louis and found employjent and made many firiends. He always sought a Christian home to board, and when stricken with the measles at the home of Mrs. Orr on 19th St. before recovering from the measles, pneumonia set in and he lived but a short time. During this period he was asked about his hope for eternity and asked them to pray for him. The light of his countenance lit up with the glory of the Lord and he died in the saving knowledge of his Master. He died April 2, 1926 age 22 years, 2 days old. Mr. Whiteside had charge of the funeral. A short service was held in the undertaker's parlor on St. Louis Ave., E. St. Louis, Rev. Montgomery having charge of the service. Thence removed to Cave-in-Rock, Illinois where he was laid to rest in the Masonic cemetery. Rev. E.M. Gertz having charge of the burial assisted by Rev. Clayton. He leaves his father, sister, step-mother, 2 step-sisters, step brother and many firends. He will be missed from the family circle and community but we can all meet again at the family reunion with the great Captain of our salvation at the marriage supper of the Lamb. Written by E.M.
