Obituary for Dora McDowell, Hardin County, Illinois MRS DORA MCDOWELL DIED OF HEART ATTACK Mrs dora Jackson McDowell, aged 67 years and widow of the late Kell McDowell, passed away very suddenly at her room in the home of Miss Grace Gentry, Cave- in-Rock, Monday January 25. She had been out in town and brought in provisions for supper and was talking with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ed McDowell, when her heart failed and she fell at Mrs. McDowell's feet. She drew only a few breaths and was gone. It is thought that her distress over conditions brought about by the flooded Ohoi aggravated the heart trouble which she had for a long time. Mrs. McDowell is survived by one son, Ed McDowell of Cave-in-Rock, and one daughter, Mrs. May Rankins, of Evansville, IN., 5 grandsons, 2 sisters, Mrs Betty Hutchison, and Mrs. May Cullom, two brothers, George and Ed Jackson. Brief funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Miss Gentry's home. W.E. Rutherford conducting them. Interment ws made in the Masonic Cemetery. A sad feature of the occurrence was that, though every effort ws made to reach her daughater, Mrs. Rankin, no contact could be made with her. She had been compelled to move from her home on account of the water and could not be located. Taken from the Hardin Co. Independent 11 Feb 1937 Ed McDowell received word from his sister, Mrs. May Rankins in Evansville, IN., that she is recovering from an attack of pneumonia from which she was suffering at the time of the death of her mother, Mrs. Dora McDowell (Hardin County Independent 18 Feb 1937) ------------------------------------------------------------- UGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organiza- tions or persons.
