Obituary of Henry Jett RIGGS, Hardin County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 1999 Wanda Reed Name of Deceased: Henry Jett RIGGS Name of Newspaper: Hardin County Independent Date of Newspaper: 6 September 1928 Obituary: Henry Jett Riggs was born near Cave-in-Rock, Illinois March 28, 1860; died at his home August 12, 1928. He was married to Sarah Elizabeth Vaughn February 15, 1882; to this union was born seven children, three of which preceded him in death. The living are Joseph W. Riggs, John H. Roggs, and Jerdie Cole of Cave-in-Rock, Illinois and Virgie Keeling of Rosiclare, I Uncle Jett, as he was called, a loving husband and father and was a hard working man and was always ready to help anyone in need and he seemed to love everybody and everybody who knew him loved him. He was a good, true, citizen and will be greatly missed by his community as well as his famly. He united with the Christian Church at an early age, and remained faithful to the end; he was a good worker in the church and was always for the right thing. He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, four children, ten grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers besides a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Hood, his body was laid to rest at the Burris cmemetery to await the resurrection of the just.
