Obituary of Amanda Hamp Hogan, Hardin County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 1999 Wanda Reed Name of Deceased: Amanda Hamp Hogan Name of Newspaper: Hardin County Independent Date of Newspaper: 10 January 1929 Amanda Hamp Hogan was the daughter of Henry and Charlotte Hamp and was born in October 1855 and departed this life at her home December 14, 1928 at the age of 73 years. She was united in marriage to George Osman January 24, 1879 and to this union four children were born, three children and her husband having preceded her to the Great Beyond. One daughter Mrs. Clara Milligan still survives. She was married the second time to Will Cunningham January 19, 1898, who has departed this life Nov. 26th. 1900. Her last husband was Henry Hogan October 21st 1903. He passed away Jan 26th. 1928. Aunt Amanda, as she was commonly called, had a kind and lovely disposition and to know her was to love her. Her kind and loving disposition had won her many friends. She has gone through with many trials and hardships in this life, but she fought the battle with faith until the Lord said it was enough. She was converted some 39 years ago and became a member of Richland Church and lived a faithful christian until her death. She leaves to mourn her loss one daughter and one brother, Henry Hamp, and one sister, Mrs. Rickie Hubbs, one daughter-in-law, and 7 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her. Funeral services was conducted at the home the following day, by Rev. T.S. Rector and her remains were taken to the Womack Cemetery by the side of her first husband in the presence of her sorrying friends and relatives.
