Obituary of Gradie HOLBROOK, Hardin County, IL, 7 February 1999 Copyright 1999 Wanda Reed Name of Deceased: Gradie HOLBROOK Name of Newspaper: Hardin County Independent Date of Newspaper: 22 April 1920 Obituary: Gradie HOLBROOK, wife of Dee Holbrook was born 21 September 1889, died with influenza and pneumonia February 26, 1920. She was married to Dee Holbrook March 21, 1910 and was the mother of two children. She professed faith in Christ at the tender age of 16 years and united with the General Baptist Church at Tower Rock. Just a few days before her death her father talked to her about taking care of herself and she said "Papa the Lord will take care of me." Gradie was a devoted companion, a living mother, a kind neighbor and friend. The funeral services was conducted by the writer at the church and the remains were taken to Peters Creek Cemetery for interment. I would say to the sorrowing friends and relatives-weep not for Gradie, she is not dead but is sleeping and will arise when the Lord comes to gather his jewels home. So prepare yourselves to meet her where parting is no more. Written by Rev.
