Obituary of Loren Howard, Hardin County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Wanda Reed Loren Howard, age 78, who had moved to Rosiclare from Neely's Landing, MO. four months ago, died last Thursday night. Funeral services for him were held Saturday afternoon in the Christian Church with Rev. J.R. Keeling officiating. he was buried in the Howard Cemetery. Mr. Howard's widow survives. They made their home in the Hensley's apartments. he had three brothers: W.R. Howard at Salem, KY and W.P. Howard lives at Neelys Landing and Phillip Jay Howard, Smithland, KY. Mr. Howard had suffered with hardening of the arteries and heart trouble for some time. He was taken to the hospital 10 days before his death. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Phillip Jay Howard and had been born in Saline County. his parents moved to Elizabethtown and Mr. Howard operated a store more than 50 years ago. They moved from here to Texas because of their son Ollie's health. The son died there. MR. Howard sold barber supplies until moving back to Neely's Landing. His brothers attended the funeral except Phillip. The snowstorm Saturday morning caused his car run into a ditch and it was impossible for him and party to complete the trip to Rosiclare that day.
