Obituary for Mary Ann Denton It became our painful duty to announce the death of Mrs. Mary Ann Denton, whose earthly cares terminated on the 8 inst. She was the daughter of Hannah (Oxford) and Samuel Patton; was a mother and devoted wite, was held in the highest esteem of all who knew her, and her sudden death, which was unexpected, cast a gloom over the entire community. The whole community heartily sympathizes with the bereaved family. "Roxie" (John Allen Oxford) G.W. Stevens sent an obituary of Mary Ann Denton, but it was so lengthy that it would take up one column and part of another. The editor has shortened the obituary. Mary A. Denton, wife of Allen Denton, departed this life 8 Feb. 1881, age 30 years, 1 month, and 2 days. Elder G.W. Stevens was called in during her last illness as spiritual advisor, and reports that she departed this life in the full hope of a blessed immortality beyond this vale of tears. She left a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn her untimely death. Taken from the Hardin County Gazette 18 Feb 1881.
