Obituary of Mrs. Malinda HOBBS, Hardin County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 1999 Wanda Reed Name of Deceased: Mrs. Malinda HOBBS Name of Newspaper: Hardin County Independent Date of Newspaper: 28 January 1954 Mrs. Malinda Hobbs, wife of Daniel Hobbs, died Saturday morning at Ferrell's Hospital, Eldorado, IL. at the age of 73. The family had lived near Cave In Rock, until six weeks ago, when they moved to Shawneetown. Mrs. Hobbs became very ill Friday night. Saturday morning she was no better and was taken to the hospital, where she died soon after her arrival, having suffered a cerebral hemmorhage. She was a daughter of the late George and Geraldine Hufsey, and was born in Hardin County. Survivors include her husband, Dan Hobbs, three sons, Leslie, Kansas City, MO., Lester and Lennie Hobbs both of St. Louis, MO., six grand- children, 1 great grand child, two brothers Loren and Lennie Hufsey, both near Cave In Rock, and three sisters, Mrs Maude Rash, Eldorado, Mrs. Minnie Keeling, Dixon, IL., and Mrs. Nellie Hopkins, Chicago, IL. The funeral, in charge of the Rose Funeral Home was held Monday afternoon at the home of her brother Loren Hufsey. The officiating minister was Rev. Stanley Knolle, music was furnished by the Eldorado Trio. Burial was at Shewmaker Cemetery near Cave In Rock. All of her brothers and sisters except Mrs. Keeling and her sons and their families were among those who attended the funeral.
