Obituary for Rebecca Ferrell, Hardin County, Illinois Rebecca Ferrell one of the oldest residents of this city, died at the home of her son Orval on West Poplar St. about 2 o'clock this morning. The aged lady had been suffering for several weeks from an attack of la grippe. Her condition has been serious for several days. Mrs Ferrell was born in Rising Sun, Ind. June 17th. 1834 and moved with her parents to this state when she was a mere child. In 1854 she was married to A.J. Ferrell of Hardin County with whom she lived until his death in 1893; their marriage was blessed by the birth of eight chldren, five of whom are still living. They are Mrs Ollie Conn of Torenro, Ohio, Mrs Martha Smock, Elizabethtown, three sons, Orval, William and Rev. C.H. Ferrell of this city and Charles Gustin a foster son whom Mrs. Ferrell had reared since infancy. Mrs Ferrell has lived a fruitful life being a devoted wife and a loving mother and the character of the estimable children she leaves behind is evidence that her life was such that is imitating it and following her teachings they became citizens of which any community might well be proud. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. L.W. Thrall from the residence of Orval Ferrell, 400 West Poplar at 3 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at Sunset Hill. Friends of the family are invited.
