Obituary of Mrs. Rhoda Winters, Hardin County, Illinois Copyright 1999 Wanda Reed Name of Deceased: Mrs. Rhoda Winters Name of Newspaper: Hardin County Independent Date of Newspaper: 2 October 1958 Obituary: Mrs. Rhoda Winters, wife of Claude Winters, died unexpectedly of a heart attack Saturday night. Had she lived until December, she would have been 72 years of age. Mrs. Winters had transacted business in Cave-in-Rock Saturday afternoon and only a few hours before her death had visited the Rose Funeral Home, where the body of Artie Gettings was lying. After reaching home she became very ill and was rushed to the Hardin County General Hospital by Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smock, where she soon died. She had suffered from a heart ailment for several years and had suffered some severe attacks previous to the one which proved fatal. Survivors include her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Elnora Curtis, Mrs. Wilda Lyle and Mrs. Erma Lackey all of Wood River, IL. 5 grandchildren, 1 great grand child, three step sons, John Winters, Harrisburg, George Winters, Sparks Hill, Esdon Winters, Shawneetown, two step-daughters, Jaunita Dutton, Harrisburg and Wanda Allen, Peoria. The funeral in charge of the Rose Funeral Home was held Tuesday afternoon at the Mt. Zion Church. The officiating minister was Rev. Raymond Rose.
