Obituary for Mrs Sidney Ann Pankey, Hardin County, Illinois Mrs Sidney Ann Pankey born at Elizabethtown, Illinois July 14, 1843, died at her home in this city Sunday morning March 28, 1915 in the 72nd year of her age. Mrs. Pankey had been in declining health for a number of years, but at no time was her condition considered serious. She was seized with violent pains in her heel last Friday afternoon, but even then no fear was entertained for her life and her children, who were scattered in various parts of the United States, were not notified of her condition. Saturday evening the pains left her and she seemed to be resting nicely all that night until about six o'clock Sunday morning, when she passed away as one entering into a peaceful sleep. Mrs Pankey married in Elizabethtown 1859 to John Pankey. To this union eight children was born, of whom six survives. They are J.H. Pankey of this city, general superintendent of the Missouri Mining Company; Dr. C.A. Pankey and Phillip S. Pankey of Virginia City; Dr. Mark e. Pankey of Lewiston, this state, and James S. Pankey at present at Douglas, Arizona and Mrs Lula A. Badger of Seattle, Washington, who is also a doctor. All the children were present at the funeral save James who could not possibly get here in time from the isolated Mining country in which he was employed. Mr. and Mrs. Pankey came to Montana in 1880, located in Butte in 1892 their son J.H. Pankey became one of the owners of the Easton Mines here and at that time the Pankey family removed to this city, where they have resided since. Mr. Pankey passed away about three years ago. Funeral services were conducted at the home this afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. Wolfe of Sheridan officiating. J.H. Pankey came from Los Angeles, Cal. and Phillip S. Pankey from Prescott, Arizona to attend the funeral. Taken from the Hardin County Independent 22 April 1915.
