Obituary of Mrs. Sarah Cameron Reed, Hardin County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 1999 Wanda Reed Name of Deceased: Mrs. Sarah Cameron Reed Name of Newspaper: Hardin County Independent Date of Newspaper: 7 May 1908 The death angel has no regard for the tears of anxious friends. The more ardent desires are brought to naught and the fondest hopes blighted by his advent. Mrs Sarah Reed, whose maiden name was Cameron was born August 16, 1833. She was married to Wesley Reed October 20, 1845, to which union was born 12 children, 10 of them preceding her to the Promised Land and two, Russel and Rufus, left to mourn the loss of a mother. She professed religion in early life and was a member of the General Baptist Church at Philadelphia which was chartered by the Ohio Association. When it failed she joined the General Baptist church at Rock Creek and remained a faithful Christian until her death, April 19, 1908. She leaves several grandchildren to mourn her death. John Wesley Reed whom she raised from infancy, lived with her until death. Especially will he miss her. A sermon was preached to her memory by Rev. John Tucker and Rev. D. A. Ledbetter at the cemetery on the home place in the presence of a large crowd of weeping friends and relatives. Her life was an exemplary one, she had a disposition to be pleasant always. The work that she has done in the way of making this life more desirable will live on and it is hoped that her advice about the life to come may be heeded. She is gone now. Beyond the recall of the most anxious is her soul awaiting the Judgment Day. Written by John H.
