Obituary for Mrs. Tennie Patton, Hardin County, Illinois The body of Mrs. Tennie Patton, a former resident of Hardin County was brought Saturday to the Rose Funeral Home at Cave-in-Rock, from Alton, where she had died at noon Thursday at the home of her daughter Mrs. Berza Hunter. Had she lived until Saturday, Mrs. Patton's 83rd birthday anniversary would have been celebrated. She had not been in good health for about a year. Her death followed a stroke which she suffered January 9th. Mrs. Patton was the last of the 10 children of the late Peter and Becky Pennell. She is survived by her daughters Mrs. Cleta Taylor, New Orleans, La., and Mrs Berza Hunter with whom she had made her home for several years. At the time of her death she still owned the farm at Rock Creek, where she had formerly lived. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Baptist Chruch in Alton. Rev. Wendell Patton, formerly of Cave-in-Rock, was the officiating minister. A second funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Rose Funeral Home. Rev. Patton was again the minister in charge. Music was furnished by the Levee Pond Quartet. Burial was at the Rutherford cemetery. Among those who attended the funeral were Mrs. Berza Hunter, Alton, IL, Mrs. Cleta Taylor, New Orleans, La., Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pennell, E. St. Louis, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cruse and family, E. Alton, Earl Pennell and Mrs. Nora Mcdowell, Equality, IL., Mrs Florence Winters and son Don, Mrs Hepsie Patton, Mrs. Walter Oldham, and her mother-in-law, and Gordon Lackey, all of Shawneetown, Mr. and Mrs. Winfred Oxford, Herod and Mrs. Ray Thorne, Eldorado.
