Obituary for Viola Mae McDowell, Hardin County, Illinois Once again the Death Angel visited the McDowell home, this time claiming the life of the mother, Viola Mae McDowell, daughter of Billly and Ann Sheridan. She was born Feb. 20, 1882 and departed this life Jan. 10, 1952, being at the time of her death, 69 years, 10 months and 2 days of age. She was one of six children, there being only one surviving sister Della Ozee, Bllythesville, Ark. Four brothers Willie, Charles, Allie, and Roy preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Walter McDowell on Aug. 4, 1901. His death occurred just 14 days before her own. To this union were born four children, Clement and Manford McDowell, Maggie Milligan and Anna Bayne, all of Cave-in- Rock. She professed faith in Christ in early life and lived as a consistent Christian until called home, being a member of the Antioch Church of Christ. She was a teacher in the rural schools for a number of years. Surviving her, in addition to the four children are 13 granchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
