George A. Dixon, 78 of Rome, Ill., died Wednesday, June 7, 1989 in Peoria.
He was born March 29, 1911 in Smithshire, the son of Lyle and Jennifer Dixon. 
He was reared and educated in the Smithshire and Carman areas.
He married Dorothy Waddel. He was employed as a laborer.
Surviving are two sons, George Dixon of Humbolt, Texas and Dennis Dixon of 
Houston, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. Frances Hillman and Mrs. Lois Clark, 
both of Peoria and Mrs. Verna Buri of Sandwich, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; seven 
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Ricketts of Aurora and Ruby Jones of 
Florida; two brothers, Roy Dixon of Smithshire and Edward Dixon of South Rome, 
Ill.
Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Graveside services were held Saturday in Carman Cemetery with Rev. Ed Snow of 
the Stronghurst Methodist Church officiating.
Pallbearers were Steve Dixon, William Hillman, Robert Hillman, Gary Lee 
VanSkike, George Dixon Jr. and Dennis Dixon
