Schenck, in Stronghurst, where she had gone two weeks before for a visit with her sister, and other friends. Obituary Lurenda Tharp Daugherty was the daughter of Alvin and Deborah Wagner Tharp, and was born at Raritan, Hunterdon Co., NJ, October 22, 1846, being at the time of her death almost 94 years old. When she was quite young, her parents moved to Fairview, Illinois, where they resided for a short time, later moving to Raritan, Ill. On January 3, 1866, she was united in marriage to Joe Perrine, and they resided in Biggsville until his death which was in 1877. On February 9, 1880, she was married to Mr. Zacharias Daugherty, who passed away on March 19, 1919. Since the death of Mr. Daugherty, she has lived with her relatives spending several winters with her sister in Texas and Oklahoma. Mrs. Daugherty was a member of the Baptist church in Monmouth, and was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 22 of Monmouth, and the Eastern Star Lodge no. 277, of Monmouth. Surviving with the sister, Mrs. Emma J. Schenck, in Stronghurst, is another sister, Mrs. Peter B. Nevius of Elk City, OK, and a brother, George Tharp of Anchorage, Alaska; a number of nieces and nephews. The following sisters and brother who have passed on are: Mrs. Keziah Philhower, of Raritan, Ill; Jacob W. Tharp, Kirkwood, Ill; Amanda L. Gardner of Blandinsville, Ill; and Charlotte McDill of Biggsville, Ill. Mrs. Daugherty made many friends wherever she was and they were also grieved to learn of her passing. Short funeral services were held on Friday afternoon from the Mellor Funeral Home in Stronghurst, by Rev. Wm. J. Giffin, and at 2:30 services were held at the Methodist church in Biggsville, with Rev. J. C. Gearhart in charge, assisted by Rev. Giffin. Two songs, "Going Down the Valley" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were sung by Mrs. R. O. Mudd and Miss Miriam Pearson, accompanied by Miss Emma J. Folmer on the piano. The service was attended by a large number of old friends from neighboring localitites and the floral offerings were many and beautiful. The casketbearers, all of whom were Stronghurst friends, were the following: Frank Smith, Oscar Beckett, Gerald Fort, Burnum Fort, Sam Howell and Berlin Steinburg. Burial was in the family lot in the Kirkwood cemetery. Out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the service were: Mrs. Florence Grigsby and Mrs. Myra Curtiss of Blandinsville; Mr. Wayman Livermore, Mrs Wedell, Mrs. Will Voorhees and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Schenck, Raritan; Mrs. Edith Weaver and Mrs. Temple of Cameron; Mrs. J. W. Schenck and Mrs. Hattie Davidson, Stronghurst; Mrs. W. C. Yeomans, Mr. John Gordon, Mrs. Lucile Whiteman, Mrs. Wm. Wolford, Mrs. Lucie Jones and Mrs. Mary Snodgrass, Monmouth; Mrs. Tom Gordon and Mrs. Ollie Seifred, Rock Island; Mr and Mrs. Ralph Painter, Terre Haute; Mrs. Ollie Kern, LaHarpe; Mrs. Wm. Johnson and daughter Charlotte, Burlington, Iowa; Mr. J. O. F. Johnson, Mr and Mrs. Fred Smith, Kirkwood; and others whose names the writer failed to get.
