George H Johnson was born near Hampton, Illinois, Feburary 8,1845 and Passed to his beyond from his home in Lomax, Illinois, January 2, 1930. As a mere child he was left an orphan upon the death of both parents. He was taken into the home of Mr Thomas Marsden. At 18 years of age he enlisted as a Private in Company G 20 th Regiment of the Illinois Infantry Volunteers of which he was honorably discharged at Louisevill, Ky July 6,1865. He married Mary E Lamen 1867. Five sons and one daughter were born. Hatty,Thomas,John R, Edward A,and Harry L. were the children. On April 9,1880 His wife Mary Ellen passed away. On the 20th day of september 1881 George Henry was united in marriage to Emma Huff. From this union four daughters were born.In his going from us, he leaves to mourn his wife Mrs Emma Johnson, one sister Mrs Mary Cox of Garden City, Kansas, Three sons, John R,Harry L,Edward A all of Clarinda, Iowa. One stepson B.Clyde of California, Five daughters,Mrs Heddy A Smith of Davenport, Iowa, Mrs Estella Mauer, Mrs Lorena Pence and Mrs Mary Alice Smith all of Lomax Community and Miss Maggaret of Burlington, Iowa.
