MITCHELL 

CAPT. JOHN B. MITCHELL, druggist, Milford, was born in Preble County,
Ohio, March 24, 1827. Crossed the plains to California in 1851; remained
until 1855, then returned to his native State. After remaining there for
a short time,  removed to Illinois, and engaged in the drug business in
Cambridge, Henry County. He there enlisted in the army for the Union in
1862, and raised Company C of the One Hundred and Twelfth Illinois
Volunteers Infantry, of which he was commissioned Captain, serving as
such during the war in the Army of the Ohio.  Was three times wounded.
At the close of the war he returned to Illinois, and resumed his old
business, remaining there until 1880, when he came to Milford,
Neb., where he embarked in his present business, which is rapidly
increasing in both stock and trade.
