Kewanee,Illinois Dec 21, 1925 Dear cousin Ewen, My uncle Murdoch Alexander Buchanan wanted me to write to you for him He does not care a great deal about writing but does enjoy hearing from his relations, especially from a distant land. He was very glad to know that you were elected member of Parliament and by such a large majority. He sends his congratulations for such a responsible position ina branch of the world’s greatest kingdoms. In fact we all wish you great success. Christmas is near and everyone getting ready to celebrate the greatest event in history. Iexpect you are having nice warm weather, while here we have snow and zero weather. We have very cold winters here. The year is drawing to a close and seems as though it has been a very short year. Uncle has been busy with his crops and feeding cattle. The corn crop is very good. The cattle market is not very good. Diiairying seems to be more profitable than feeding cattle. Some cows bring in over $200 a year from milk. Edna[ John’s 3rd girl ]was married last June. Amelia, the oldest girl is in Moto Belgian Congo---Africa. She is a missionary there. Uncle was very glad to get the paper stating your office. He just got the two Xmas numbers and thinks they are very interesting. We wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a happy new year..
