"CHARLES L. DEKEZEL GENESEO -- Charles L. DeKezel, 79, 306 N. Vail St., died at 11:30 yesterday morning in his home after a lingering illness. Services will be at 10 Wednesday morning in St. Malachy's Catholic Church. The Rev. George Herbach, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 tomorrow evening in the Myers Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow afternoon and evening. Mr. DeKezel was born Oct. 21, 1883, in The Netherlands, the son of Bernard and Celestina DeKezel. He attended schools in The Netherlands and had lived in this country the last 51 years and Geneseo the last 20 years. Mr. DeKezel farmed in Hanna and Osco Twps. After retiring from farming, he was employed by John Deere Spreader Works in East Moline 10 years. He married Augusta Ghys April 15, 1912, in East Moline. He was a member of St. Malachy's Catholic Church and the Geneseo Bolders Club. Survivors are the widow; one son, Edward of Cambridge; three daughters, Mrs. Wilburt VanDeWoestyne and Mrs. Darwin Johnson, both of Geneseo, and Miss Dorothy at home; two brothers, Ben of Geneseo and Peter of Kewanee; four sisters, Mrs. Emma DeWilde and Mrs. Emily VanWaes, both of Rochester, N.Y., and two in the Netherlands; 13 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son; one grandson, two brothers and two sisters." Additional Comments: *In the Netherlands, the Family Surname was originally de Kesel. He was buried in Geneseo, Henry, Illinois, USA - Oakwood Cemetery; 10-67-3. Charles emigrated/immigrated with his parents on 30 Oct 1909 from Schoondijke, Oostburg, Zeeland, Netherlands on the ship S.S. Finland to Ellis Island, New York, New York, USA arriving on the 09 Nov 1909. Parents: Augustinus Bernardus & Celestina van den Bossche De Kesel DeKezel Sr. Grandparents: Franciscus Bernardus & Marie Louise Lampaert de Kesel DeKesel. Wife: Augusta M. "Ghijs" Gjys Ghys who emigrated/immigrated 23 Mar 1912 from Rotterdam, Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands via the ship S.S. Noordam to New York, New York, USA arriving on 04 Apr 1912. Her parents were: Eduardus & Hortensia van de Wege Ghijs. Known Children: Emiel G. (Verda) DeKezel, Edward B. (Irene) DeKezel, Clara M. (Wilbert) DeKezel VanDeWoestyne, Dorothy M. (Charles) DeKezel Netolicky, and Loretta (Darwin) DeKezel Johnson. Siblings: Marie Louisa, Louisa Maria van Waas, Augustinus Bernardus (August), Petrus Hendricus (Peter Henry), Emma Sophia de Wilde, Franciscus Bernardus, Stephanie, Benoni Bernardus (Ben), Leonie de Wilde, Edumondus Leonard, Emelie Louise van Waes, Emile, Marie Louise de Buck, and Stephanie Amelia Spiessens.
