Obituary of Gust GUSTAFSON, Henry County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Ann Schwirian The Orion Times Thursday, March 29, 1900 Gust Gustafson, who has been a resident of this county since 1851, died last Thursday at noon of Bright's disease, as was briefly stated in last week's Times. Mr. Gustafson was born in Sweden Oct. 26, 1842, and came to Lynn township, this county, with his parents when a boy of about 9 years. On Oct. 19, 1871, he married Miss Minnie Lawson, and they resided on a farm near Ophiem until the spring of 1893, when he came to Western township and bought a farm 3 miles west of Orion, where he resided until his death. Mr. Gustafson has been an honored and respected citizen of this community. Besides his widow he leaves four sons: Bert, Will, Fred and Ray, all residing at home. The funeral was held from his late home Saturday forenoon, the Rev. J. A. Edmondson of the Methodist church officiating. His body was laid to rest in Western cemetery. In addition to the facts above given Rev. Edmonson read the following: Many are the witnesses to his manly virtues. In his home he was a good example of a loving husband and a careful father. In the community he was an obliging neighbor. He leaves his bereaved wife and his worthy sons to feel that he has gone out from the home to rest in the sacred repose of the dead until God shall effect the change, when the mortal shall put on immortality and death shall be swallowed up in victory. We would write faith and hope and love in this home, that the goodness and beauty of our lord may remain with it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations or persons.
