Darwin Johnson
Darwin M. Johnson, 79, of Geneseo, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2007, at 
his home.
A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, 
Geneseo. The Rev. Michael Pakula will celebrate. Burial will be in the Oakwood 
Cemetery, Geneseo. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Vandemore 
Funeral Home, Geneseo, where scripture will be held at 6:45 p.m. Additional 
visitation will be one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. Memorials 
may be left to the Darwin Johnson Memorial Fund.
Darwin was born on April 17, 1928, in Geneseo, the son of Maurice and Mary 
Oberle Johnson. He was united in marriage to Loretta DeKezel on May 28, 1949, in 
Geneseo. She passed away on June 28, 1990.
Darwin was employed for 38 years at John Deere Product Engineering as a test 
mechanic, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of the St. Malachy's Catholic Church. He enjoyed restoring 
antique cars. He truly enjoyed his friends and family, especially his 
grandchildren, they were his greatest joys.
Survivors and spouses include son, Duane "Swede" and Barb Johnson, Mount 
Pleasant, Iowa; son, Don and Eva Johnson, Park Ridge, Ill.; son, Jeff and Karen 
Johnson, Normal, Ill.; daughter, Janet and Brian Peacock, Overland Park, Kan; 
eight grandchildren; and one brother, James Johnson, Erie. He was preceded in 
death by his wife, Loretta; one son, Danny Johnson; and two brothers.
