DeKezel, 89, of Colona, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term Care Unit. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, April 4th, 2012 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Colona. Rev. Duane Jack will celebrate. Burial will be in the North Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation for Margaret will be from 4 - 7 pm Tuesday at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Geneseo; where a Prayer Service will be held at 6:45 pm. Additional visitation will also be 1 hour prior to Mass at the church. Memorials may be directed to the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, American Cancer Society, or Compassus Hospice. Margaret was born on October 4, 1922 in Marengo, IA, the daughter of Jules and Martha (Swaenepoel) Lyphout. She was united in Marriage to Tayfield B. “Phil” DeKezel on October 5, 1940 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church,Moline; he preceded her in death in 2008. Margaret had been employed at the National Licorice Factory,Molineand later in the housekeeping department atHammond-HenryHospital, Geneseo. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and the Altar & Rosary Society of the church. Margaret had been an election judge for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, fishing, playing cards, and gardening. Survivors include three daughters Kathy Cotty, Doyline, LA; Ruth DeKezel, Geneseo; Susan (Mark) Stone, Colona; two sons Robert (Elaine) DeKezel, Holland, PA; Michael (Brenda) DeKezel, Colona; eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one expected soon. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five sisters, four brothers, and a son-in-law Claude Cotty. A special thank you to Dr. Konda and staff for the care and concern over the past 11 years, and to Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term Care Unit for their special care over the last nine months."
