"MRS. STEPHANIE DEKAZEL
The Daily Dispatch Newspaper, microfilm copy, Moline Public Library, Moline,

May 2012
    Mrs. Stephanie DeKazel, 91, 2032  35th St., Rock Island, formerly of 
Kewanee, died Saturday morning in St. Anthony's Hospital.  Services will be at 
10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Kewanee.  Burial will be in 
Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kewanee.  Friends may call at the Cavanagh and Schueneman 
Funeral Home, Kewanee, from 7 to 9 tonight.  Rosary will be recited at the 
funeral home at 7:30 tonight.  Stephanie Martens was born in Holland.  She was 
married to Peter DeKazel April 10, 1902, in Holland.  After their marriage they 
came to the United States settling in the Kewanee area.  She lived in Kewanee 
until moving to her daughter's home in Rock Island about three years ago.  
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Mary Weeks, Kewanee; Mrs. Ray DePauw, Rock 
Island, with whom she made her home, and Mrs. Cyril VanDaele, Kewanee; two sons, 
August, Kewanee, and Francis, Rock Island; nine grandchildren; 13 great 
grandchildren, and one great, great granddaughter; two sisters and a brother in 
Holland.  She was preceded in death by her husband in September in 1963."

Oostburg, Zeeland, Netherlands, states that they, "Peter" Petrus Hendricus 
DeKezel & Stephanie Sophia Martens were married on 09 April 1902.
