Obituary of MARGARET R. PICKARD WITHROW - Henry County, Illinois MARGARET R. PICKARD WITHROW Margaret R. Pickard was born near Dannsville, Livingston county, New York, September 20th, 1840, being the fourth child of Leander and Rebecca Pickard. With her parents she came to Illinois in 1854, and settled at Tiskilwa. On September 12, 1857, she was united in marriage to Daniel O. Hunter, moving to Atkinson at a later date. The G.A.R. post in Atkinson is named in his honor. To this union were born six children: Mrs. J.A. Henry, of Fargo, N.D.; Will H., of Minneavolis (sic?); Leander C., of Geneseo; Fay E., of Luverne, Minn.; Mrs. Will Hickox and Mrs. J.W. Hunter, preceding her in death. Being converted in early youth, she became a member of the M.E. church where she was an active worker as long as her health permitted. She was also a member of the W.C.T.U. and a charter member of the G.A. R. circle. She is survived by four sisters, thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. On December 12, 1878, Mr. Hunter died. After remaining a widow nearly eight years, on September 12, 1885, she was married to Amariah Withrow of Geneseo, where they have since resided. The funeral was held in the M.E. church at Geneseo on Saturday, March 18, 1922, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, the Rev. Fletcher DeClark, officiating. Interment was at the Oakwood cemetery. All the children of Mrs. Withrow, and most of the grandchildren, were able to be present at the funeral. Relatives from out-of-town who were able to be present at the funeral of the late Mrs. Amariah Withrow were: Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Henry, Fargo, N.D.; W.H. Hunter. Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. F.E. DeMaranville, Atkinson, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wheat, Prophetstown; Mrs. Simon Frey, East Moline; Mr. Joe Hunter, Henry, Ill.; Mrs LeVerne (sic) McKelvey, Rocky Ford, Col.; Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Henry, Chicago; Harold Henry, Lewiston, Ill.; Miss Ruthegene Hunter, Kansas City, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Konskie, Moline; Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Hester. Springville, Iowa; Miss Icel Hunter, Springville, Iowa; and Mrs. Laura McCullough, Milvea, Minn. Notes: This obituary was found in our families' Bible.
