Obituary of Rebecca Kenney Pickard - Henry County, Illinois                Obituary of Rebecca Kenney Pickard Rebecca Kenney was born in North Hampton, Montgomery county, New York, April 8th, 1813.  In 1816, with her parents, she moved to Livingston county, N.Y.  Nov. 6th, 1834, she was united in marriage with Leander Pickard.  This union was blessed by a family of twelve children-seven sons and five daughters.  She died Thursday, March 9th, 1893.  The husband and five daughters survive the wife and mother, the seven sons, having preceded her, one dying in the army, giving his life for his country.  Deceased, came to Henry county with her family in 1869, settling in Atkinson which has since been her home.  Deceased was converted and united with the M.E. church in 1835 and remained an active and worthy member till death.  She was for 29 years a member.  Funeral services were held at the Atkinson M.E. church, conducted by Rev. M. A. Head, of Rock Island, who chose for his text Phil. 1-21:  "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain."  The interment was at Grand View cemetery.
