Obituary of Mrs Thomas (Annah Lewis) ANDERSON, Henry County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Ann Schwirian The Orion Times Thursday, March 29, 1900 Word has reached Orion of the death of Mrs. Thos. Anderson at her home in Newton, Iowa, on Thursday evening, March 15. She passed away at about 8 o'clock, her death being due to a fibrous tumor which had assumed a cancerous form. The Newton, Iowa, Record publishes the following obituary: "Mrs. Anderson's maiden name was Annah Lewis. She was born in Fayette county, Pennsylvania, Nov. 19, 1841. In November, 1857, with her parents she moved to Orion, in Henry county, Ill., where on the 13th day of December 1859, she was united in marriage to Thomas Anderson. Three daughters were born to them all of whom survive their mother, and are residents of this city, viz: Mrs. Phoebe Hill, Mrs. Maggie Richardson, Mrs. Addie Robbins. In the winter of 1878, Mrs. Anderson with her husband united with the M. E. church at Orion, and has remained steadfast to the vows she then took--in her beautiful home life and in her daily walk exemplifying the well rounded and most perfect christian character. The approach of death had no terror for her and she was ready to go when the final summons came. She leaves three brothers, John Lewis of Ottumwa, Iowa, Elliott of Pasadena, Cal., and D. S. of Moline, Ill. The eldest, John, was with her during the last weeks of her illness. The funeral services were held in the First M. E. church at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, and were attended by a large number of relatives and friends. Beautiful flowers in abundance told of the esteem of friends and indicated the pure life which had gone out in this world forever. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations or persons.
