Newspaper Article, Henry J SALMON Milford Herald, August 3, 1933 Henry J. Salmon is honored in Chicago as the 7,000,000th visitor at Century of Progress on the air yesterday. The seven-millionth visitor to pass through the turnstiles at the Century of Progress in Chicago is Henry J. Salmon, longtime prominent resident of Woodworth, RR4, Milford and correspondent for the Milford Herald News. When Mr. Salmon bought ticket No. 7,000,000, he gained nationwide recognition and became an honored guest of the Century of Progress. This practice has been followed since the first millionth ticket was bought. Mr. Salmon went on the air over Station WLS at the noon broadcast yesterday after he had been announced as the seven-millionth patron, and was honored by the announcer who interviewed him at the microphone. Mr. Salmon said he was a resident of Route 4, Milford, Illinois at Woodworth and that he was 74 years "young." He expressed appreciation for the courtesies shown and recalled that he had been a visitor at the Chicago's World Fair in 1893 but regarded the Century of Progress as far ahead of that event in every way. Mr. Salmon said the conditions on the farms around his home community were not extra good but with a few more rains the corn might do pretty well. He had two of his grandsons with him and they also were mentioned in the radio broadcast. ------------------------------------------------------------------ USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organiza- tions or persons.
