From Monday, 16 June 1980, Commercial News--Danville, IL Obituary of Joe Bury Milford, Ill.--Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Barker Funeral Home in Milford for Joe E. Bury, 34, of Milford Route 1. He was pronounced dead on arrival at 12:45 p.m. Saturday (June 14, 1980) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka. The Rev. Harold Flessner will officiate. Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Death was attributed to a heart attack while he was at the scene of an ammonia tank accident a mile north of Stockland. According to Phyllis Jameson, Iroquois County coroner, Bury and several other men were attempting to pull a pickup truck out of a ditch as tanks in and around the pickup were leaking anhydrous ammonia, a hazardous material. There was no link between his heart attack and the fumes according to a pathologist's report, the coroner said. Bury had been manager of the Sohigro Fertilizer Plant in Stockland since 1968. He was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church and Milford Lions Club. Born Aug. 21, 1945, in Watseka, he was the son of Russell and Ruth Decker Bury. He was married Aug. 17, 1968, in Buckley to Claudett Rieches, who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Jennifer and Julie, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Ruth Leverenz of Wellington; two brothers, Russell of Milford and Dale of Springfield, Ohio; and a sister, Cathy of Carbondale, Ill.
