Obit: MILFORD MAIL CARRIER DEAD WINDFIELD LAIRD Milford-- (CNS) Beloved by all who knew his cheery smile, Winfield Laird, 61, a rural mail carrier of Milford for 32 years, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 1940 at Iroquois Hospital following an operation. He had been in ill health several months. A native of this vicinity, he was born June 30, 1878. He was married July 4, 1903 to Miss Mae Smith, a year after he started his mail route here. He retired in 1934. Surviving are four children, Mrs. Ethel Silberer of Chicago, Mrs. Hazel Callahan of Milford, Alonzo and Donald , at home; a brother Harry of Portland, Ore; two sisters , Mrs. Ethel Foley, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Cora Austin, Emmington, Il. Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. Friday at Weyand's funeral Home , the Rev. Clifton Butler officiating.
