Mrs. Louisa Smith Alvin- Mrs. Louisa Smith, 93, with 134 living descendants, died at 11 :30 p.m. Saturday (July 3, 1954) at west Lebanon and funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Alvin Methodist Church. She had been ill on year. The Rev. Lloyd Hutchinson officiated and burial was in Walnut Corner Cemetery. The Lanham Funeral Home of Henning was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Smith was born Nov. 26, 1860 near Collison , daughter of George and Amanda Jackaway. She was married to Sam Smith and he preceded her in death in 1896. Surviving are Three sons, George of Edon, Ohio, William of Veavy , Ind. and Charles of Chicago, and five daughters, Mrs. May Laird and Mrs. Lucy McLaughlin of Hoopeston, Mrs. Anna Mathis of Pence, Mrs. Bessie Shatell of West Lebanon and Mrs. Emma McDonald, with who she had resided for 18 months, Also surviving are 33 grand children, 70 great grandchildren and 23 great great grandchildren.
