PATTERSON Funeral services for Charles W. “Bill” Patterson, 76, of Onarga, were held Tuesday, April 18, at the Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga. Officiating was Pastor James Harkins. Burial was at the Onarga Cemetery. Mr. Patterson died at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2006, at the Gilman Nursing Pavilion, following a lengthy illness. He was born on Nov. 16, 1929 in Iroquois to Frank & Pansy Marie Campbell Patterson. He married Iva Lou Shambrook in Thawville on April 15, 1951. She died March 9, 2004. Survivors include four daughters, Brenda & Edward McIntye, Susan & George Dickenson, Debra & Dale Schuler, and Linda & Bill Manahan; one sister, Barbara Molck; three grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and 17 step-grandchildren. Preceding him in death, along with his wife, are his parents, two sons, Larry Dean and Gary Gene, and one step-great-grandchild, Michael E. McIntrye. Mr. Patterson was a truck driver for 25 years for Gibson Transport in Onarga. He was a member of Life Church in Gilman. He collected replica cars, and enjoyed fishing and riding his moped and watching soap operas and westerns. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Eastern Illinois Lung Association. Arrangements were made by Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga.
