Officiating was Pastor Joseph Hughes. Mrs. Prater died Wed., Feb., 15, 2006, at Watseka Healthcare Center. She was born June 26, 1918 in Jeff, to Alva and Clara Wheat Mason. She married Elmer John “Bill” Prater in 1936 in Watseka. He died March 6, 1969. Survivors include four daughters, and three sons-in-law, Mary Ellen & Marion Ralph, Evelyn Suver & friend, Ken Brown, Eileen & Kenneth Duden, and Janet & Francis Rabideau; one brother and four sisters-in-law, Roscoe & Phyllis Mason, Lulabelle Mason & Mary Mason, and Rose Mason; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, one daughter and son- in-law, Nancy & Jerry Thompson and five brothers. Mrs. Prater was employed for several years at TRW, the Iroquois Resident Home and cleaning the local school buses. She was a member of the Ashkum Methodist Church. She enjoyed flowers, dogs and country music. Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice or to the donor’s choice. Arrangements were made by the Baier Funeral Home in Watseka.
