Officiating was Father Jeffrey C. Lawrence. Burial was at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Cullom. Mr. Remmers died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at 1:45 p.m. at his home. He was born Oct. 31, 1916 in Cullom to Gerhardt and Lydia Spahr Remmers. He married Ruth G. Koerner at St. John’s Catholic Church in Cullom. She survives and resides in Livingston Manor in Pontiac. Other survivors include his children, Patricia (James) Dougherty of Rome, Georgia, Ruth Deborah (Robert Mack) Remmers of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, James (Lee) Remmers of rural Cullom, and Roberts (Dr. Steven J.) Sparenberg of Monticello; one brother, Everett Remmers of Santa Fe., New Mexico; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents and one son, Joseph Remmers. Mr. Remmers graduated from Cullom High School in 1934. He farmed and worked for Ed Morrissette prior to opening Remmers Welding in 1972. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Cullom. In 1938 he attended and completed the basic course of instruction for the Infantry Arm of the Citizens Military Training at Camp Leonard Wood in Fort Sheridan. Memorials may be made to the Cullom Fire and Ambulance service. Friends of the Cullom Beckman Memorial Library or St. John’s Catholic Church in Cullom.
