Verona Hilgendorf Obituary, Iroquois County Illinois BUCKLEY -- Verona M. Hilgendorf, 85, a lifelong resident of Buckley, died at 7:20 p.m. Monday in the Paxton Community Hospital, where she had been a patient about a month. Mrs. Hilgendorf was born July 1, 1893, at Buckley to Mr. and Mrs. John Ditman. She attended Buckley public schools. She was married Oct. 8, 1911, to Martin Hilgendorf, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Hilgendorf was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Buckley and St. John's Ladies Aid. Survivors include a son, Clifford of Buckley; two daughters, Verna Johnson of Paxton and Vivian Gronewold of Buckley; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Everett Ditman and Andrew Ditman, both of Rockford. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and a brother. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church. The Rev. James D. Brammeier will officiate and burial will be in St. John's Cemetery here.
