WATERS, 64, with picture Funeral services for Sherry J. Waters, 64, of Watseka, were held Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at First Christian Church in Watseka. Officiating was Rev. David Todd and Rev. Wayne Meyer. Burial was at Maple Grove Cemetery in Milford. Mrs. Waters died at 5:46 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2006, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. She was born Sept. 17, 1941 in Watseka to Joseph and Imogene Thompson Hines. She married Larry Waters on Nov. 4, 1960 in Watseka. He survives. Other survivors include five children, Tim & Carla Waters, Tod Waters, Tammy & Larry Paro, Tara & Jim Vanderwal, and Travis Waters & fiancé Felice Macz, all of Watseka; two brothers, Robert Hines, and William & Debbie Hines, all of Kentland, Indiana; two aunts, Arlene Hines, and Helen Thompson, both of Watseka; several nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren; and one step- grandchild. Preceding her in death are both parents, and one brother, Fred Hines. Mrs. Waters was a secretary for chief of police and a journalist. She was a member of First Christian Church of Watseka. She was a city alderman, a church elder and deacon, secretary of Watseka Community High School, a salesperson at WGFA, and a Cub Scout leader. In the 1980’s she was owner of Personal Touch Used Books. She wrote for the Times Republic starting in the early 1970’s as a reporter/former editor/columnist of Woman’s World and Slice of Life. She enjoyed reading, writing and spending time with her family. Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice, Kankakee Valley Hospice or First Christian Church in Watseka.
