The Daily Independent Newspaper, Murphysboro, IL April 1, 1948

The announcement of the engagement of Irene Faye McDOWELL, daughter of Mr. &
Mrs. John McDOWELL, formerly of Murphysboro and now of Percy, to James Stanton
CONOVER, son of Mrs. James M. CONOVER and the late James M. CONOVER of Newark,
N.J., was made recently. Miss McDOWELL is granddaughter of Mr. & Mrs. Harry
FERRILL of West Walnut St., Murphysboro.

Miss McDOWELL attended Southern University and is a graduate of Gordon College,
Boston, Mass.

Mr. CONOVER is a graduate of Brown University and is a member of the Sigma Chi
Fraternity.

Both are now studying at Andover-Newton Theological School in Newton Centre,
Mass. Miss McDOWELL is also the Youth Director at the First Baptist Church in
Needham, Mass., and Mr. CONOVER is the Youth Director at Washington St. Baptist
Church of Lynn, Mass.

An early June wedding is planned.
