J. SMITH of Los Angeles, Calif., visited here over the weekend with his uncle and aunt, Mr. & Mrs. A. D. BRUBAKER, and daughter, Miss Dora. Mr. & Mrs. J. M. ELROD and children of DuQuoin and Pat and Mary VINCENT of St. Louis were house guests of Mr. & Mrs. John ROBINSON over the weekend. Mrs. Al NERONE, who has been making their home here with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. B. A. WINCHESTER, has gone to Denver, Colo., to join her husband and make her home. Mr. NERONE has accepted a position with the Standard Brands. Mr. & Mrs. M. L. BRANDENBERGER of Chicago arrived yesterday for a week's visit here with her mother, Mrs. H. E. CLYBURN, and family, and with her grandmother, Mrs. F. R. LEGG, and family. Mr. & Mrs. BRANDENBERGER, who are both employed, are taking their vacation at this time. Mrs. D. J. HJERSTEDT of Chicago is visiting here for a few days at the home of Dr. & Mrs. H. W. PATTERSON and son and wife, Mr. & Mrs. William PATTERSON and little son, Doug, and with their son-in-law and wife, Mr. & Mrs. A. A. HUGHES and little daughters, Helen and Mary. Announcements have been received here of the birth of a seven pound baby daughter to Mr. & Mrs. Stanley SPIVEY on June 6, at Waverly, Illinois. She has been named Janet Ellen and this is their first child. Mrs. SPIVEY, who is a niece of Mrs. J. Henry SCHRODER, will be remembered here as Miss Doris WOODROME. For two years after her marriage she made her home here in Carbondale while her husband was in the service. Mrs. Rolla BREWER returned Saturday night from Philadelphia, Pa., where she has been for the past three weeks on account of the serious illness of her daughter, Mrs. W. J. ZILLMER. Lieut. & Mrs. ZILLMER are the parents of a baby son born May 31. He weighed eight pounds and has been named Teddy Bill. The mother was Miss Geneva BREWER of this city before the marriage. This is their second child, the first a little girl who is fourteen months old and whom they adopted.
