M. WALKER and family. Mr. WALKER formerly lived in Carbondale but went to California twenty years ago to make his home. This is his first visit here since he went west. Dr. Laura SWARTZ was a business visitor in Marion Wednesday. R. A. TAYLOR was a business visitor in Paducah Wednesday. Mrs. John SCARLETT spent Tuesday with friends in Herrin. Loren CONSERT of Elizabethtown is the guest of Mr. & Mrs. Neme GAINES. Chas. RANEY, a contractor from Marion, was here Tuesday to make arrangements to begin the erection of the building for the DODGE Bros. garage on East Main Street, just west of the A. T. FLOYD store. Construction will begin at once. The building will be a one story concrete and steel structure and will cost about $20,000. O. S. COLE of Marion is the DODGE Bros. representative in this territory and will have charge of the business here. Mrs. Bert DICKERMAN is improving aftera few days of illness. Mrs. F. F. SCHUETTE went to St. Louis Wednesday for a two days business trip. H. B. ISOM of Murphysboro has accepted a position at SEIBERTs drug store. C. H. HUNTER and sons Charles and Leon were Cairo visitors Tuesday evening. Mr. & Mrs. Howard SHARP of Granite City were guests Sunday of Mrs. Julia BELL and family. Mr. & Mrs. A. G. CROSS have returned to their home in Chicago after a visit with relatives and friends here. Sam HILL, Emil BREWER, Chas. HELTON T. M. O'NEAY and O. R. MORGAN were St. Louis visitors Wednesday. Mrs. Dolly ARBUCKLE and daughter Vonita, of Effingham are visiting the formers daughter, Miss Thelma WILLIAMS. Mrs. J. A. ROBERTSON of St. Louis formerly of this city were here between trains Wednesday enroute to Makanda to visit relatives. Mr. & Mrs. A. E. ETHERTON and son Frank, and Mr. & Mrs. Frank HICKMAN of Benton were the guests Tuesday of Mrs. Lydia ETHERTON. Dave ENTSMINGER, Clarence DOOLING and Attorney C. E. FEIRICH returned Wednesday from Belleville where they attended District Rotary Convention held there Monday and Tuesday. Chas. BUTLER, colored, of Coulterville, died at Holden Hospital Tuesday night. Mr. BUTLER was an employee of the I. C. and was brought to the hospital several days ago. A. B. VANCIL has purchased the Harker apartments, corner of Normal Avenue and Monroe street, from D. H.
