Riverside Park in the southwest part of the city containing fifty acres is one of the beauty places of the city and is unusually attractive with its blending of native trees with the part of the landscape garden and the growth of exotic trees and shrubs. With fine open spaces, a picturesque band stand and rest pavilion in different parts of the grounds, it is the scene of many gatherings every pretty day. There too is located one of the best Tourists camping grounds in this section of the state, with electric lights and open ovens. Tourists from almost every state in the union have been seen there in the evenings in the summer and fall preparing the meals and resting for the night. The second park called Park View, is historic in a measure having been for years dedicated to the uses of the Turnveriens of other days. For years this park was unused but the park board took it over and made it into one of the play grounds of the city. Located as it is in a thickly settled section of the city the play ground apparatus is in constant use by the children of the neighborhood and the shade of the fine old trees is enjoyed by their elders. The park district was formed in April, 1908 by a special election creating a park board and giving the power for a small park tax levy. The first officers were: J. J. PIERSON, President W. S.
