Murphysboro Daily Republican Era November 11, 1918

John WALLER of near Carbondale received a brief letter from his son, Frank, with
the American army in France stating that he was wounded and enroute to a
hospital in England.  The letter said:  "Somewhere in England, Oct. 22-Am on Red
Cross train on the way to a hospital; wounded in face and back but not
seriously.  A letter will follow."
