The first service in Murphysboro was held in the court house on May 28, 1899. Later the German Evangelical Church was secured for services, and these were held on the first and third Sundays of each month. The first officers of the mission were: Dr. Wm. T. INGRAM, Warden Mrs. A. F. KUEHLE, Treasurer Mrs. Emma B. MAYHEW, Clerk Since that time, Trinity Church has had an almost continually active life. The little band of faithful workers managed to buy a lot, and erect a beautiful little church by themselves. This is a concrete example of what eleven people can do if they make an effort. In 1923, the church, which owes a great deal to the efforts and interests of Dr. Ingram, was consecrated, although Dr. Ingram did not live to see the event, and ever since, Trinity Church has slowly been forging its way to the front. It is one of those unusual missions, which make up much of the joy of the priest who serves it. St. Margaret's Guild is the only organization but it functions in every department of church work. The ladies now have over $800 in the bank, looking forward to the erection of the Parish house, a need for which Murphysboro is longing. The officers of the mission are as follows: Rev. C.B. CROMWELL, Priest in charge A. F. KUEHLE, Warden Mrs. Arthur WILSON, Clerk A. F. KUEHLE, Treasurer Additional Comments: Transcribed by Mary Riseling from grandfather C. E.
