The Theatre is run by James A. MARLOW, a civic minded citizen, always striving to bring the best in entertainment to the city. The modern theatre, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in January, seats 1200 people. Mr. MARLOW also operates the Liberty Theatre on Walnut Street which seats 500. Years ago, the theatre was the scene of many home-talent shows and stage shows. Now the theatre keeps abreast of the times, by showing the newer and better quality pictures to the public. It is fully air conditioned and has comfortable seats. Mr. MARLOW is always ready to aid in civic affairs and is one of the first to sponsor National Drives, such as the War Loan Drives, Red Cross, Infantile Paralysis and many others. Defense stamps and bonds are always on sale at the ticket office. Recently, the theatre management sent pictures of local servicemen away to be prepared for showing on the screen. These pictures were run for a week. Additional Comments: Transcribed by Mary Riseling from her grandfather, Dr. C. E. Riseling's collection of old newspapers.
